I bought it for my 9 year old granddaughter. It’s pretty good quality but I expected the image to be larger. It seems kind of limited in the size of picture you can expect.

works great but no artwork to show as of yet
Need stronger light on an overcast day. I’m happy with the Lucy. Just need more free time.
I gave it to my granddaughter and she’s loving it.
I was intrigued by the idea of a camera lucida years ago, and I was excited when I saw the Lucy ad come up. My very first attempt to use it was to capture a metal sculpture of a rockfish a friend had made. I was pleased with how easy Lucy was to use!
For me, it was hard to get accustomed to using it, but it is a useful tool. The drying kit was very nice. Thank you.
I have only done one drawing but it is much easier than drawing freehand.
I started doodling - adjusting the window curtains -using the filter - standing my phone up- my helper was very interested and inspected the drawlucy - I liked how it allowed me to do a basic tracing - I haven’t drawn in years so I was pleasantly surprised I got something that resembled a person and a horse my attempt at the flower needs a bit of work, but overall, I enjoyed it - with a little more practice and I think it might come out even better.
Set up some pears on a napkin and quickly outlined and scribbled in shadows with a black uniball drawing pen. love how it came out! Great tool.. I'm a retired Art Teacher from 35+ years at the Public School and Community College levels.. had something similar to Lucy when I was a Kid that helped me really get into creating art.. That and Learn to draw with Jon Gnagy on Saturday Mornings growing up many years ago!
This tool is really awesome. It has helped me to get correct proportions on this drawing I made. I love it and will definitely be buying the biggest version so that I can make larger drawings!

I used the drawing tool to make an outline of a scene and created a painting in which I submitted to site that offers tutorials and monthly challenges of themed paintings and I was so proud mine was featured in the December gallery.
This allows an artist to make a quick sketch of anything... from life or the computer screen.
So far, I’m not very impressed. Lucy does not easily attached to all table surfaces. I think this might work best with still life but if you’re trying to copy something from a photo, it’s difficult

You did not order a Photo Enlarger accessory, so yes, it does not work well for photos without that accessory, which is exactly what we state on our website. If you want to work from photos, you need a Photo Enlarger accessory. Regarding clamping onto a table, the clamp opens up to 2 1/2 inches. If a table is thicker than that, it won’t attach. Solid construction and easy to follow instructions. I bought it with some expectations on how it would influence my drawings. I am pleasantly challenged by how it restricts some finer details shown in the reflection. I think using proper lighting with this tool will help with more precise drawings. It's a fun way to try a certain drawing process and requires patience and practice.
Good Morning I am using my Lucy mini for a few weeks . The beginning was not so successful., till I use the IPad. .. because this “background “is 2 dimensional . I am 80 years old. I love using the drawing tool. I have been able to sketch pictures onto my paper so that I may watercolor it. I now have these paintings hanging in our small town library for the local art show for the month of April.

Only a beginner with LucyMini. It's okay, thought image would be more distinct. Obviously I need more practice. Should prove a valuable device for realistic drawing. I recommend Lucy for serious artists (made & shipped well, arrives with good instructions & online videos, very helpful).

First, try using more normal room lighting instead of that bright spotlight. LUCY works best in evenly lit environments. Also, attaching the filter will instantly brighten the image. Lastly, consider using a slightly larger object to draw. If the mannequin is too small, try elevating it on a little box or something similar to center it more easily on your page. Easy to set up and adjust. Made markings where needed did an outline then filled in details.
I've only used my new Lucy once but I like it very much. I'm just getting back into art so am a little rusty. This device helped me get a nice outline of my subject. It's still a work in progress but I'm happy with it so far.
I was having a hard time getting the scale right on my sketches of this house. It's a recognizable place, so it had to be right! I put the idea on hold until I found the Lucy and now I'm very proud of what I did. All I had to do was an outline of the house and fill in with my own art. Very happy with it!
I got two of them.. after watching the video(s) to get a firm grasp of the tool I fiddled with it for a spell,I attained "sight" and proper paper placement. The outline was rough to be sure, but filling in and color was easy. The best part was that this was an intended gift for my 9 year old grand. My "practice" was instrumental in giving this to show in person how it works, I tell you truly when the light of discovery went on in her eyes it was magical she loved it.. mission accomplished..

My 9 year old son used the Lucy to sketch out this little wooden toy jet, and then he added in the detail and color! He can set up the lucy and take it down all by himself and has used it several times already. It definitely takes a little practice, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty cool! Thanks!
I thought I would start with something easy for my first painting using LUCY so I set up this sill life of Hopi Kachina dolls. The setup takes a little forethought but I did get used to it. I think I will use LUCY to try to paint a portrait. It did really help me with accurate proportions much faster than I can usually do, so I can get painting sooner.
I bought this around Black Friday and got a fantastic deal. I have been doing art in my sketchbook daily and wanted a shortcut to sketch people and pets more quickly, and this does the trick. I don't think it would be easy to use without a little art knowledge. Drawing from real life is tricky because it doesn't take much for a person to move, so I got the converter kit and can sketch from a photo. In retrospect, I would have bought a larger one and not the mini so I could create larger art. I love the Lucy.
It may seem silly, but I have sketchbook upon sketchbook filled with drawings I've made while out to dinner with my kid. They're bursting with wonky plates and crooked cutlery, scenes of a table setting, but through a very wobbly eye/hand. The Lucy allowed me to draw a mug that looks like a mug. This was the first thing I drew with it and it remains my favorite. Is it great art? Nope. Did it allow me to love drawing and enjoy the process? Absolutely. Highly recommend picking one of these up if you are interested in still life drawing and want to enjoy the act of making a drawing instead of agonizing over your lack of steady skill. Everything is made better through practice and the Lucy lets me feel like I'm practicing instead of taking random shots in the dark hoping for the best.

My husband gifted me the Lucy Mini for Christmas & I used it to create a work of art for my father of his childhood lunchbox. I am excited to continue using the Lucy Drawing Tool to enhance my artistic practice!
I bought this for my 11 year old art obsessed God-daughter. This was a great Christmas present as she loves it.
I think this is a useful tool to quicken a project. I used this to paint a footprint of gesso on a turkey feather to be able to paint the image of the duck. I wish I could get the photo assessory as an option, but can't seem to be able to find it offered as an after thought option. All in all I think it is a useful tool.
I just love my Luci mini! It's so much easier to get photos transferred on my canvas and in the correct ratios than trying to free hand draw it!
What a time-saver! I just want to learn to paint loose watercolor, but I don’t want to be a sketch artist. This tool allows me to get quick and correct shapes and ratios.
It was easy to use. I don’t have the best area for drawing so I missed a few lines, but quickly corrected them. Now I am ready to take on a more complex photo.
Great tool to get the correct proportions when drawing or painting… used it to get the image on the canvas and it was all fun from there..
It seems to not work properly. The reflection is blurry and small format. Not helpful
