I am very satisfied with Lucy...I'm still trying to adjust to use it getting the lighting right and propositions right but I know I can get it going I just have to make adjustments but I know I can figure it out again I am 100% happy with using Lucy.
Beverly S.
I think I will love it, but need better instructions, ones you can read, not watch. I still have not totally figured out how to use it??
Julie L.
I'm not really sure I love it. It's really hard to see where the tip of my pencil is. I've had better luck using a projector to trace. I haven't tried using it with a 3-D object. maybe it works better there.
Lori
Don’t believe the hype.

A very handy tool . It took a few minutes to adjust so that I could see the pencil moving underneath but then it was smooth sailing . It is worth the time and money as an aid instead of the long grid process . I started a highlands yard sign with it. I’m very pleased
craig p.
love it

I bought the Lucy for a Christmas gift for my wife. The photo is of the unopened box. She is going to LOVE that little gem of an assistant.
Lynne
Excellent product !! Arrived fast thank you
Maria L.
IT IS FANTASTIC I BOUGHT LUCY BECAUSE I AM NOT A GOOD DRAWER BUT WITH LUCY IS ALL VERY SIMPLE AND YOU LEARN HOW TO DRAW, THANK YOU FOR CREATING THIS BEAUTIFUL TOOL.
Jennifer W.
I was surprised to be able to draw an image of a framed picture, not just the still life. I’m very happy with this product.
Edward L.
LUCY flex has done so much to help me in achieving a minimalist line art style, and getting all the proportions right. I like line art, or line drawing, and LUCY flex is a great choice for me, sitting outdoors, even with just a clipboard and pencil. Once it's set up, it stays in place and almost disappears between me and the scene I'm trying to capture. Well done!
Katrina K.
A useful drawing tool, however while the lenses help make the scene bright enough on the paper to draw, I find it difficult to see my hand and pencil to know whether I'm accurately drawing the image I'm seeing. My first attempts have not been successful, hopefully I'll get the hang of it in time.
Ivan M.
After just a few tries, I was able to accurately sketch out proper proportions of line drawings. So far, copying from photographs 8x10 or 6x9... the same size of the drawing papers I am using.
Kelly R.
Need more practice with it but I love it so far and can't wait to do more with it down the road.
Daniel V.
Yeah it works pretty good if you have the light right and your subject position correctly. And you need to make sure you have the right filter combination and placement. At least give you a proportional sketch then you can put her away.
Active R.
I thought it would produce bigger pictures, I may be doing something wrong?
Will D.
Awesome device. Very durable, works as advertised!

I received my Lucy drawing tool. I watched a few of the videos and was able to paint a picture of my schnauzer, Romeo, on a tumbled paver. Usually it takes me quite a long time to make the initial drawing, but the Lucy drawing tool made it easy to draw in a fairly short time. It did take time to figure out how to use it initially. I had a little trouble getting the Lucy tool put together correctly. Once I figured it out, the drawing was quick and easy. I can’t wait to use it again.
John
It not worth $5 let alone 97. Very dissatisfied and disappointed.
Joseph T.
It"s a great tool for transfering images to canvas or paper. It's a time saver. I will recommend to all my fellow artists.
Lenette B.
I ordered 2 luci flex: one at home and one on the road. Saddly I only recieved one thats is why I am not feeling so lucky as I suppost to
Alana D.
Through no fault of their own, my Lucy never arrived. There was an initial glitch in getting the message to Lucidarts but as soon as they received the message that their product never arrived, they immediately refunded my money.
Still disappointed that it never arrived but GOOD WORK service department for responding so quickly.
Alane M.
It is not as precise as I imagined it would have been.
Lise C.
Lucy drawing tool is awesome especially if you want to enlarge your photo . It is quick and easy to use. And is more adder quiet even if you know how to draw.
lorraine e.
I enjoy making art and for me I like the results I get being able to make the contour line faster and spending more time on the colors and shading
Maureen L.
It took a little time to get used to it. I should have bought the Lucy with everything included as it is a better one to have as you can fo so much more.
Edwin Y.
The LucyDraw tool is magnificent art tool. It's an amazing instrument to practice my art skills.
Lucía R.
It's a very useful tool, very easy and comfortable to use in a siiting position.
Bonita W.
I have not used Lucy as I have been out of town. BUT I did not receive the book I orgered with it for $37+
Kelsie C.
I love this tool but have one regret . I didn't purchase the arm for holding photos
Steve .
The Lucy tool takes a bit of practice, especially if you wear bifocals. I'm fortunate enough to still be able to see without my glasses, so after taking those off, it became much easier. Nice product that I believe is going to help my drawing skills!
Michael R.
Not sure if it is as easy to use or if I am in learning curve
adrane h.
Good Price..I just cant seem to get a good big picture to trace so i can paint on a big canvas, but i will keep trying and thanks for the product..
Tom S.
I use the Lucy tool to get a better scale and placement for paintings. I find it easier to keep the proper scale and perspective using the tool.
Sandra C.
I actually haven’t used it yet. I wear glasses, and I couldn’t seem to get the angle right in order to see the image, and my pencil. I went back to watch the videos, so I’m pretty sure I had it set up correctly. I really want to be able to use it, but I may have to send it back.
Annette B.
I am struggling with this tool but I am going to continue to practice. I have much simpler tools to produce outlines
Jacqueline T.
The Lucy has improved my drawing so much!
Carolyn G.
Draw Lucy has made a big difference in my paintings. Here are 2 that I recently did...I've included a little snippet of the reference photos (don't want to violate copyrights). I am so pleased with the results.
It can easily be installed and moved, but I've installed it on the edge of the desk so that I can swing it into and out of place, depending upon what I am doing at the moment. The instructional videos are great, too, so don't hesitate to use them when you are setting it up and first learning to use the Draw Lucy.
If you do any kind of detailed art, Draw Lucy is the tool for you!
Maggie L.
I was very skeptical at first. Not about whether it would work or not, but about whether or not I would actually use it. I am pleasantly surprised with how much I LOVE this tool! Once I really dialed it in, it has helped so much with setting up the basic outlines/compositions while still giving me enough creativity to flesh it out from there.
Raymond C.
a pen drawing I made from a photo of this castle with minor corrections; the castle, a public service building for the younger is in Hoboken, Antwerp; not so special as a building but important for the community.
Angie A.
This is smaller than 8x10 . It is must fast to get it done and save time . I like it and need up sized
Margaret O.
This is sooooo much fun. Really. For a long time I felt that using the Lucy would be cheating. I like to draw. But after I watched several videos by David Hockney, I really wanted to try it for myself. I am convinced the Lucy will make me a better artist. Next I plan to try sketching out a portrait with paint.
Mayra A.
I love it. Used and enjoyed. Now it is part of my therapy...painting.
I want to know if you have any advice or special attachment to the Lucy's to draw paint model in a bigger canvas or paper.
Rebecca P.
I found it a little bit difficult to figure out how to get my image properly contained on the canvas, even after watching the how-to videos of the site. I'm not sure if it's because I was trying to paint a picture on a canvas that was bigger than a standard 8.5x11 or what. I didn't feel like the canvas was huge (maybe 12x16 or so) but I ended up being very glad I had bought the attachment that transfers photos as well as real life objects. I ended up printing a photo-sized copy of the picture, and then mounting it on the photo attachment in order to get the sizing right. Then it worked. The only issue I had was that the printing wasn't the best quality, so tracing the outlines became a little difficult. I decided next time I will print a picture of the photo and then TRACE THE MAJOR OUTLINES WITH MARKER so they are easier to see and transfer to the canvas. Overall, the Lucy made the process of making a pic into a painting MUCH easier than trying to get all the perspectives perfect myself. I'm glad I have it, and am looking forward to making more paintings for family members, as well as other subjects.
Ken P.
I enlarge a print of a photo and use the Lucy to copy onto canvas. Then I paint it. Helps a great deal!
Larry G.
The Lucy Drawing Tool has really given me a leg up in my watercolor painting. I believe what the experts say about drawing being a critical element in painting, but it has not been easy for me. I have done many "learn to draw" exercises but progress has been slow. Tracing with the tool has given me insight into perspective with weird shapes and allowed me to get a good start on paintings without wearing out erasers. I'm actually creating while bypassing the stress and grueling effort to get started. It has helped me improve on my freestyle drawing as well.
Ron W.
Love my Lucy Flex. I've been tracing from photos prior to getting the Lucy. Huge problems getting proportions and angles correct. The Lucy provides a new level of expertise unavailable via the tracing method. Still getting used to scaling the drawing and transferring the image to my canvas. Now that I have the Lucy, I'm making an attempt at portraits and getting a better likeness. The Lucy Flex will get me on the way.
Courtney E.
I’m using the Lucy drawing tool and photo enlarger to draw peoples pets on a canvas and then I teach a class where they paint over my drawing to create their own pet portrait. It has been so much fun! The drawing tool allows me to creat a perfect drawing of their pet in very little time. It’s easy and fun and I can get an exact likeness of the pet! Lucy has been essential for my business to save time and frustration and give people the best portrait of their pet possible, regardless of their skill level.
Duane M.
This photo was my first attempt to use the Lucy.
I haven’t done much because I am waiting for the drawing course which I ordered two or three weeks ago.
Duane
Susan P.
I like it so far. Looked it over real good. Looks like a nice tool. Haven’t been able to use it yet. I have to finish a few other projects before I get back into drawing.
Barbara D.
Lucy is a very cool tool! It only took a couple of tries to get the hang of it. It gives the artist a great starting point and is fun to use!
Todd A.
Just getting started using the LucieArt device but exciting to use it! Certainly will help me expand and improve my art drawing skills.
Dorothy M.
I am 73 and just learning to draw and paint. I even have a hard time tracing!. After severar hours of trying I finally found what works for me and was able to complete a drawing. I still need practice but I am doing much better with the Lucy.
Christopher s.
This is an amazing tool, and I am so grateful for finding this. Thank you so much from Canada - Xorplon p.s we are all connected via creation energy, so I'm going to use this to create as much as I possibly can Thank you SO much.
Diane P.
First time I try before didn't work. Using Lucy it was much easier.
TR S.
It was initially difficult to align, etc., but your videos were very helpful. My only specific issue is that it seems to distort the image top to bottom. Further use may resolve that.
Lynne G.
It was easy to assemble using the instruction videos. I made a simple pencil drawing before adding watercolor.
Teresa B.
Took awhile to get the hang of it but was worth the effort
charles s.
Very pleased received yesterday 4th jan great service from the USA thank you
Kurt H.
This was Xmas gifts and the 2 girls loved thim.
Martha R.
I am intrigued by The Lucy. I set it up (very easy) but have not used it yet. I need to enlarge my subjects to fit my paper so I need to invest in the attachment.
I think it will work well and be fun!
Günter M.
In a drawing, the correct dimension is important. If this is correct, you can afford a lot, but this has to fit. Lucy is a great help to correctly transfer the distances and dimensions.
Gretchen O.
The only problem and it is a major one, is that I cannot see my pencil tracing on the original photo. It is blurred. It is probsbly the difference between using right eye and left eye. If I keep both eyes open, then I can see where my pencil is going but my placement has changed. Any suggestion to overcome this would be helpful. It makes the process hard!
Mark M.
Excellent tool for quick sketch under painting.
Andrew F.
I like the Lucy because it helps me make the drawing/painting more realistic.
As I have eye problems, my left eye being more focused than my right eye. I use it left handed when I’m actually right handed in order to focus, I wish I could add a corrective lens to the Lucy so this drawings were easier to do.
Even so it’s a great help to me when doing art.
Lea R.
I like to work with color and have done quilting, tie-dye and other crafts. But there has always been sadness that I cannot draw much better than stick figures. Now I can really say I LOVE LUCY ! Vincent would be surprised at what I made of Dr. Gachet but that's part of the fun: start off with an outline and color as you will. Thank you Lucy.
Kay H.
The Lucy is easy to use! Customer service is so responsive.
Timothy G.
Fantastic tool! So easy to use and works exactly as advertised! I haven’t drawn anything in a long time and have always wanted to buy one of these. As soon as I got it I put it to use. Drew a pencil sketch of a photograph from a scenic viewpoint here on the Big Island of Hawai’i. I would have uploaded a pic of it but I gave it away as a birthday gift.
This art tool is very well built. Very sturdy. Should last a lifetime but if it doesn’t, I know where to get a replacement! When you buy this (and you WILL want to!), look for a discount coupon. They offer them. They are very accommodating. Anyway, happy drawing!
Clifton H.
Have not used it yet have been very busy but when I do I will review it even further
Hewitt B.
Could use a few tips how to better use tool to lessen foreshortening.
Peter S.
I love this!
Arthur S.
Like to sketch but always had difficulty with the dimensions Lucy is perfect to outline your subject quickly. Highly recommend this product.
kiran m.
Nice addition to the artist tool kit. Helps my kids too!
Glenn W.
I paint commissioned animal pet portraits as well as landscapes. I used to enlarge or reduce the size of photographs and then trace them onto a canvas as necessary. The attached wolf painting was accomplished by using a picture of the wolf and drawing the wolf onto a drawing surface using the Lucy Flex. I then used tracing paper to transfer the wolf drawing to my canvas. I found that the experience of creating my drawing enhanced my finished painting.
Bex B.
It was a quick but necessary learning curve. I needed to figure out how to light the subject but as it is my first go, I’m pretty pleased with the results. I think the Lucy flex was the right one for me, I wish I had bought the photo enlarger when I got the Lucy. I’ll wait for Christmas to get it. It’s hard to get a feel for things over the internet but I wish I could have realised how good the Lucy before I bought it. My advice: just get it. You will love it, it’s sturdy and well made. It helps you get to painting faster. As a professional artist anything that can speed up the process is a good thing.
Pippa A.
I really love my Lucida. It’s simple yet has really taken my drawing to a new level. Often, the most difficult part of portraiture is sketching the initial proportions, and the Lucida makes that part so easy, it almost feels like cheating. But then I remember the old masters used it too :)
Here in the pic you can see my set-up. I’m generally using a pic from my phone as the source image, which of course I used to take this photo, but you can see where my phone is usually taped to the top shelf of my desk for use with the Lucida. Works wonders!
Aleta P.
I really had high expectations because of the videos I'd seen. When I first received it, it was NOT as easy to use as I'd expected... HOWEVER, once I got the hang of it, it really, really works great! Other than the learning curve, figuring out how to use it, I really have enjoyed it and am grateful I took the leap to purchase. I highly recommend anyone - new artist or professional - everyone will get use from this great tool!
David M.
I bought the Lucy to document archaeological finds in a journal with pen and ink drawing. I was able to use it after only a couple of minutes of setup. I am still playing with the ideal lighting conditions and workflow, but I was surprised how bright the reflected images were.
Grant W.
It does exactly what I was hoping it would do. Thank-you
Cindy W.
I’ve just started and I love using Lucy. She gives me a different perspective when drawing. I am still learning how to utilize Lucy without my glasses, however I’m not daunted. As you can see from my sketch, it can be done.
Chris S.
Took a little time to get the hang of it, but now would not be without it. Great gadget..
Teresa H.
I ordered the flex model. The only reason I didn't give it a top rating is I had shoulder surgery a few weeks ago and setting it up was a little difficult. I think set up will become easier the more I use it.
I used the following:
Baby Elephant; Pitt Charcoal, black ink, and Kuretake Gansai Tambi Japanese Watercolor
Teresa Harson
Susan W.
There is a definite learning curve to using the Lucy. I can see the "ghost" pretty well depending on the size of my original photo. I can't wait to get better at using it.
Betty A.
This was my first animal photo ever. Having Lucy made proportion perfect. I love it.
Jamie B.
I am a beginner and amateur, but would love to take it to a higher level. The Lucy has already helped tremendously by helping my hand eye coordination, perspective, stroke technique and speed. Now I am able to spend more time actually improving art vs set up. The Lucy has improved my confidence and skill level painting from real life
As well. I highly recommend the Lucy!!!
Jane S.
The videos were good to find. I would have appreciated some written instructions (step by step) for assembly of the package I bought. It was a bit confusing.
It was helpful on a couple of projects already!
Minerva C.
This is a drawing that a friend traced. She was nervous at first but with Lucy and my guidance she was able to feel confidence that she can draw more than just stick figures.
MARTHA P.
I have known about it for years. Glad to be working with it.
Not ready to show anything yet . Just getting used to it.
I will recommend to my artist friends.
Thank you.
Magalis M.
Useful for a beginner and a good tool to experiment with the old masters ways to a faster outline. Shouldn’t be a replacement for still life proportions.
James C.
This makes it much easier to keep items in perspective.
Thomas J.
I used Lucy for the first time right after I received it. It was easy to set up and I was able to draw from a photo on the first try. I used it to draw from a photo of a pink Cadillac that I used in a Day of the Dead painting I'm selling in a local gallery. It helped me catch some of the detail and perspective that I was having trouble capturing on my own. Looking forward to using it for landscapes next.
alan s.
The Lucy does everything that was advertised, delivered quickly and has increased my wife's ability to draw and me the no talent artist can actually produce reasonable facsimiles. Thankyou very much
Sam K.
Versatile tool, Makes drawing perfectly possible, Though I am a free hand portrait artist, I wanted to try this tool and it is perfect. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to draw.
Faye K.
Portrait of my granddaughter , not finished yet . Still some touch ups to do .
Kelly S.
I enjoy using and am having fun with it. I'm still getting used to it.
Gregory P.
Makes it easier to get the right size for the drawings. Great way to start learning. .
Alicia S.
I really like the LUCY tool. I do wish there was some sort of leveling feature to tell if the tool is level and the object you're drawing is level. All my art is coming out crooked.
