Lucy makes it easy to get eye shape and nose shape and proportion quickly!
Judith C.
The larger I am not too sure how it works. I'm still playing with it. I hope it does what it's supposed to do.
Dexter D.
Great product so happy to finally have one!

This was my first go at something I haven't done in years. The Lucy made a world of difference in me getting
the correct proportions and giving the realism if always fought to attain. Ive received so many compliments from friends and family.
I recently divorced after 23 years and i wanted to find my creativity side again. The Lucy adds were enticing and I'm so glad I made the purchase.
Dawn G.
The Lucy is extremely awkward to use and has a huge learning curve, but it does get easier with practice. The jury is still out on whether it's worth the price. I am a beginner in all art forms, and this has helped me with perspective, shadowing, etc. This photo of my pup is a first attempt at sketching with the Lucy--it definitely will not win awards, but it's an improvement for me, personally. For someone with more artistic experience, the Lucy would probably hold more value. I will definitely keep practicing and learning using the Lucy.
Melvin W.
Very good day, helping me to learn how to prepare shapes and proportions.I think it's a very good produ.Ct my third week.I guess of it and I've done some amazing drawings Amazing jones for the first time the first couple of weeks

I LIKE THIS TOOL!
I AM WORKING ON DRAWING WITHOUT THE TOOL. BUT WHEN I GET SUPER FRUSTRATED, IT REALLY HELPS TO PRODUCE A DRAWING WITH LUCY AND SEE THE RESULTS!
David D.
I like how easy it is to set up. I bring it with me when traveling and i can use the photo enlarger while in the hotel.
I never expected the image to be this clear and easy to see. I'm pleasantly surprised.
John C.
Simple setup, easy to use
Ashlei H.
Very nice tool, makes it very easy to transfer sketches onto canvas for painting over. The size and angle of the image is hard to get right, and hard to replicate if you need multiple sessions, but it gets the job done once you get used to it.
Gene L.
Just getting into painting, mostly acrylic abstract, but I thought I'd use Lucy to try to do a painting from a photo portrait I had done a few years back. I have never been much of a drawer, especially people, but Lucy helped me get a reasonable outline to paint from. Still learning how to use the tool but I thought this turned out pretty decent for my very first use of Lucy. It will take some practice (duh) but it was pretty simple to use after watching the free get started videos. Pretty happy so far.
Tom L.
Ordered and paid for the package deal that was supposed to come with a photo enlarger and bag and just got the basic kit. No photo enlarger or bag.
Brian C.
The Lucy drawing tool is quite interesting and a lot of fun! As a professional artist, I am always seeking out new information, materials and techniques to influence my artwork. The Lucy drawing tool is a modern equivalent to a once popular strategy for recreating three dimensional form on a two dimensional surface. I found the Lucy to be everything it was described to be and I can see how the Lucy would make an excellent addition to any artist’s tool box.

Bought for my daughter for her birthday. She absolutely loves it and she’s already improved considerably. Highly recommend
Melba S.
it takes sometime to get Lucy set up. Video instructions okay, but not clear, I repeat them a few times to understand. I do detail drawing, so
I need to get close up, I haven't figured that out. However it does work to do the outlines, and I can add the details without Lucy. I want to use this sitting. I followed the video but I see MY reflection through the lens as well. This is frustrating. I tried adjusting the arm and the lense but I still see my neck, shirt or eye. I looked for some troubleshooting but could not find a blog or place to ask questions. Overall I think it will be helpful to me. A little pricey, but what isn't these days. I knew exactly what it does and what I was paying for.
Nicole S.
Took a minute to figure out how to adjust so I was comfortable while using. Lots of ways to tweak that I can't wait to ticket with. Used to make a drawing of a cheetah photo and then was able to paint the colors too. Was ecstatic with the result!
Kristy M.
This was a family gift for myself and two daughters ages 8 and 12. We love our Lucy! It does have a learning curve but all of us easily picked up how to use it.
The attached photo was one of my first attempts based off a photo. I can't wait to create.more art with it!
Keegan S.
It took a little adjusting to use the LUCY with my glasses, but the video tutorials and filters helped so much! I wanted to work on my glitter details with my acrylic painting. I set the LUCY up to draw some of the ornaments on our outdoor holiday tree on small canvases. I have completed 2 of the paintings so far and I love the detail the LUCY helped me see!

Using the Lucy Drawing Tool, I was able to create a portrait of K. Richards from the Rolling Stones with the facial proportions I desired, achieving the modern look I was aiming for. The tool's flexibility and precision allowed me to bring my artistic vision to life with ease. It's a great addition to any artist's toolkit. I highly recommend the Lucy Drawing Tool for artists seeking a versatile and reliable tool for their creative endeavors.
Kay A.
I bought the Lucy to paint from a print. I haven't been able to figure out how to position the print to get the right size

So cool! Made it much easier to get my project done, my art teacher thought it was an awesome tool

The Lucy drawing tool is a captivating piece of artistic equipment that beautifully marries older inventions with new innovation. It pays homage to the traditional techniques of old master artists while embracing the conveniences of the present. Artists seeking a unique and inspiring way to bridge these two worlds will undoubtedly find the Lucy drawing tool an intriguing addition to their creative arsenal. It has been a huge addition to our classroom to get students to feel more confident in their drawing skills as well as have them understand to “see” the details in front of them.
Christina H.
This is my first attempt so still a little rusty but the Lucy gave me a good outline to begin my artwork. Fun!! Can't wait to keep playing around with it!!
Diana E.
The Lucy would be a great tool for improving drawing skills for beginners. The projection is fairly simple, and It works great for smaller works; however, even though I purchased the enlarger as well, the quality of projection onto a larger canvas (16 x 20 in this case), proved inadequate. I would recommend the Lucy only to those who need it for complicated drawings on smaller works.
Damary T.
This is a wonderful tool. My husband suggested i use a cell phone holder that’s about the same arm length of the lucyart flex and so I am able to use the photos on my iPhone with this tool.
Diane M.
I got this from a picture from an online site and managed to get it printed and then I copied the outlines and after that, I used watercolors to paint it.
Not my best, haven't used water color in years.
But this Lucy works sitting or standing.
Jose A.
Quick and easy to use. Thank you.
Ricky D.
Really like it
I’d as described

I like this product is good, it will take sometime to get use to it. But it does make my drawing better.l have not been able to use it much, but when l do drawing will come more easy.

Hello. I need to update my review I left on the Lucy tool yesterday. I complained that I had not received my refund after I returned it. However, today I received a full refund from them. I just want to say that this company is creditable and can be trusted.
I could not use the Lucy tool due to glaucoma. The Lucy tool would be great for anyone who has no issues with their eyes.

Very cool and useful tool! Definitely a little tricky to get a proper alignment, especially since I often draw from reference photos on the computer and want to replicate the full image edge-to-edge. The neck has a little bit of play in it which adds a bit of difficulty even when you think you have it close.
But, once you get it, it speeds up the proccess immensely by helping to quickly get the primary sketch, or even just reference points, done quickly and accurately! The included filters are easy to use and really help to hone in the proper brightness regardless of the lighting conditions.
Looking forward to working with it much more!
Janet M.
It saves me lots of time drawing the subject for my painting
Christine B.
I had just started trying to paint portraits and found it frustrating to get exact proportions down. I saw The Lucy and decided to give it a try. This was my first attempt with it and all I can say is it is a game changer. I'm so impressed and will probably soon be purchasing the Lucy Pro so that I can do larger ones. It has taken the frustration out of beginning my sketches.
Irene P.
This is a great drawing tool!
Shirley T.
This cat was a job hired out to match with a few other paintings. As I was having a hard time getting the cats eyes and nose correct . In the proportions of lining everything up the LUCY was a great tool. I needed to make the eyes appealing !
If you get the eyes of a pet, or person only then can you captures the personality.
The LUCY was a huge help in this project ! I was able to achieve just what the customer was looking for. Which encourages me to start painting art again .
Sybil H.
Lucy helped guide me along.... much needed to begin a painting.

I am still learning and getting more acquainted on how to use Lucy. It is a learning process and in time, I will be much faster in getting everything set up. I practiced a little with simple subjects to trace. I also bought the photo enlarger kit. I had a black and white photo, I believe 4 by 6 in size, and enlarged the image, using Lucy and the enlarger to make an image for a 8 by 10 drawing. After tracing all the main outlines and some shades, I transferred the image to a multi mix media sheet. I drew the picture using ink media.
There are many ways to trace an image and transfer it to the final sheet, but as I get more experienced using the Lucy Tool, it will become my main choice. It can be used anywhere, indoors or out, and it very easy to carry or store.
Theresa L.
Very quick to assemble, directions are clear, quality parts and fasteners. I have zero art skills but always wanted to try, this gives me a great jump start.
Jeanie E.
I used my Lucy to sketch my two grandsons for my watercolor gift mom and dad are getting from me this year! Easy to use but do watch the videos provided. That helped a lot. This tool is easy set up, can stand or sit to sketch, and so rewarding to see your results. I couldn’t sketch my art without Lucy. I highly recommend this tool!
Paul B.
It's amazing
Thomas A.
I've not had a lot of time to work with Lucy, but I love the concept and the ease of setting it up. I'm looking forward when I have time to install it and work from the easel. It seems like a great product with practice.
Lois D.
Have not yet done much with it. Will soon.
Susan S.
I have just started using the Lucy tool and have been taking the course to get better. However, it is helpful to get the correct size and placement of objects, so then I can shade and finish the pics.
Reynel B.
Its a watermelon. Its not a professional drawing but I think its ok! Thanks Lucy . I enjoy drawing with this great tool. I would just like to know if anyone can answer me this? What size photo is ideal to make a drawing with this , because I think the photos I have been trying to use are way too small. Any thoughts on this?
Daniel D.
My wife really enjoyed receiving this for her birthday!
Moshe H.
I always wanted to learn how to draw Disney characters for my daughter and with the Lucy its so easy and the process is much enjoyable
you can really remember how to draw after 2-3 times the same character without even use the LUCY
i love how this thing is non electronic so you can take it anywhere and even draw scenery out side.
Highly recommended.
Lance E.
This is very cool! It did take me a few minutes to get it figured out, even after watching the videos. I have very shaky hands. Essential tremors in both arms. I used Lucy to help me with the outline and to make a few reference lines. It was so easy, even I could do it. I am in my mid 50's and never tried any form of art after elementary school. I decided to try sketching almost 3 months ago to stall the progression of the tremors. I bought Lucy to help me get started and I can't believe the results. I highly recommend it.
Jim B.
Still unable to get it to work effectively.
Elke D.
I’m looking for the tutorial. I think I need practice.
Pat S.
The Lucy art tool/ magnifier is an excellent addition to an artists tool box or for anyone who wants to see all of the details of smaller pictures or of scenes that are far off in the distance, Thank You Lucy Art Supplies!
Victor G.
It works very well. I like it!

My eyes are not good but I’m able to get the light on the image. The outline is nice for me to work on the details.

LUCIDArt
Our club, the Hendersonville Kennel Club, sponsored one of the annual Hendersonville Bearfootin' Art Walk bears last year. As an artist and dog nut affiliated with the club, I volunteered to paint as many of our members breeds as I could comfortably fit on the bear, representing as many of the dog sports as possible that our members are involved in…Rather than trying to sketch dozens of dogs and other critters onto the bear itself, I worked the sketches on paper and used LUCY to transfer the sketches to the bear. Some members supplied photos of their dogs doing various dog sports and I used LUCY to directly sketch the images onto the bear from the photos. It saved me tons of time resizing photos and sketches directly onto the bear, and enabled me to easily position them and draw on the bear.

Good tool for setting a foundation, not for the amateur artists as this tool requires a certain level of drawing ability.

I just received my LUCY and Im thrilled. My first attempt using it impressed me. It was easy to assemble and set up. Finding the right lighting is the only thing that gets in the way, but the filters that come with it help a lot. I strive to draw realistic portraits and this has given me the ability to up my game! Im so pleased.

It is not clear what those silly 'shade' clips/cards are for. No it doesnt really make it larger. Its for people who like to work in minatire. Small photos onto a SMALL canvas.

excellent quality, arrived before Christmass eve, and in excellent condition. starting use it immediately. I am very pleased. thank you

I want everyone to know that his company has the BEST Customer Service!!! My last review was out of MY frustration, and not about the product itself!!! This is a good product, and I would like to buy the larger size at some point... I apologize to the company for my last review. We DID get in touch with each other, and they took care of me right away with no issue!!!

It takes time to get use to. Works fine.

I've been wanting one of these for several years and finally purchased one. At first, I was a little overwhelmed with the set up and use (I'm 72 so it took a bit), but after the set up I'm very impressed on how it works. The more I use it the easier it is and it works beautifully. Well worth the money.

I love antique projection and drafting technologies. I also have built several of my own. This tool is incredibly thoughtfully designed and much more comfortable to use than a home made one. Pros: modular design to suit installation on multiple surfaces, heavy duty, clear and clean filters, easy to manipulate, stays where you set it, interesting photo attachment Cons: a little heavier than expected Some people don't like old timey drawing aids, but it is likely because they don't understand the process or it wasn't what they thought it would be. When you are 'recording' a view, no part of your head can move or the perspective will change. The farther away the object, the more difficult it will be to keep yiur eye steady on it. Obviously it isn't possible to just never ever move, but you can make an outline of an object or an orientation line that you can use to orient yourself for the next object. I have found that lightly pressing the lucida down to match my orientation I can then draw while checking back every few seconds to make sure I am maintaining the correct perspective. Obviously this will not replace having to practice drawing or getting a good line, but it is really interesting to use. If you enjoy 17-19th architectural or landscape drawings and engravings you will get a kick out of the line style that using this tool produces. It is also great for quickly making several realistic outlines from life (like a landscape) with which you can then use to do value or colour studies. I have really enjoyed 'recording' weird perspectives and making absurdly detailed landscapes or tree studies. The results are always compelling
Thea
Setting up was a bit of a puzzle so i went online to see what i was doing wrong. After a bit i got it to do what its suppose to. The second time i was back to the begining trying to see the picture as a ghost, light is important on the subject unlike the projector that needs dark. Its well made. I will keep trying to get to know it better.
Theodore Heublein
I use my LUCY Drawing Tool to more accurately capture my subjects. Due to isolation from COVID-19, I have been trying to capture my garden over the changing seasons and this tool has helped tremendously. I am able to use this both indoors and outdoors. I like that it has so few moving parts and comes together quickly and easily. Well worth the expense. @theodoreheubleinart

After I came across your advertisement on YouTube, I ordered the LUCY Drawing Tool just out ofcuriosity. Now I am completely hooked on drawingI just want to thank you for having this product available! I love it so much. This product has helped me draw better and has made it so much fun.
Rhonda Sciacca
I love theLUCY. TheLUCY flex is lightweight and flexible and easily transportable. I purchased the previous version of this Camera Lucida and enjoyed it so much that when the improvedLUCY came out with the flexible stand I could not resist. I find it easy and fun to use, even though I can, and do, draw without it.The image is more clear and much brighter than the previous version and the filters work very well when working in different lighting conditions. I use it to quickly get the correct perspective and have used it in life drawing to easily and quickly get the proportions correct. I also use it just to revive my interest in art when I find it flagging a little. It is exciting with endless possibilities. Even the dishes in the sink look exciting and are easy to draw with theLUCY. Use it for fun and to relax. The result doesnt have to be perfect or suitable for hanging but theLUCYcertainly could be used for that purpose for more serious work
Lawrence Hebron
The Lucy Drawing Tool greatly improves the artist's ability to draw the outline and significant details of a subject, and it you don't get these things right, the rest of the project will never look quite right. It takes a little practice to get used to the Lucy, but when you do, the results will be well worth while.

I am so happy with this item and a great addition to my Art room. Easy instructions and great quality. Very pleased

This is fun little tool to save some time drawing an image without having to make grid lines. The faint image is good for getting placement on a canvas or paper. You cannot lean on the eyepiece of course, but it's quite portable and easy to take out and put away.
Ruben Maya
A necessary tool for certain projects.
Barb K.
So easy to use! Worth every cent paid for it. You will find more uses for it than just paper. Would give a gift.

Bought this as a gift for 12yo getting into drawing. She loves it & im going to get one for myself.
Paula Buermele
I was very pleased with the fast shipping, excellent packaging, and quality of the product. It took some experimentation to judge where to place my subject in relation to the projector but once I got that figured out, I was successful in drawing my subject using the Lucy device. I especially light being able to use it in a lighted room and not have to fumble around in a dark space.
Cliff Bleakley
Amazing drawing aid! Works as advertised!
Bruce W
A modern version of an old drawing aid. Fun to use and easy, I am happy with my camera lucida.
diane griffiths
I like how easy it is to set up. As with anything new, it takes just a little practice to get lighting correct. I never had an eye for drawing, now I don't shy away. It is a blessing

I'm using LUCY flex since 2017, mainly for educational purposes, here, at Paris National Natural History Museum, where I work as scientific illustrator and instructor. LUCY fits perfectly my needs to teach how to draw helped with an optical device, from middle school to Master Degree in scientific illustration. I've tried many competing devices and the LUCY Drawing Tool is really my favorite: easy to use, strong and versatile. Students discovering this tool really enjoy the magic!
Patrick Kikut
I have used both the LUCY pro and LUCY flex in my field drawings and have found it helpful in terms of proportions and distances. Proportions and distances are major components in describing the Western landscape. Many students (and workshop attendees) struggle to render both the immensity of the high mountain peaks and the great distances between the viewer and the subject. The use of a LUCY can be a great help in this regard and can allow for artists to more quickly move onto mark making and color descriptions.
