I was a bit apprehensive at purchasing the Lucy. But truly glad I did. It was a game changer for my sketching on canvas prior to painting.
Glad I purchased and highly recommend 👌 👍
I am a watercolor artist. Great tool for initial drawing. Takes me much longer to draw subject freehand and works much better than the opaque projector I was previously using.
The Lucy Flex is a bigtime saver. I can concentrate on watercolor painting instead of all the time I was spending on drawing and erasing the preliminary sketch.
Drawing is not a strong point for me. Especially perspective and dimension. But with working work the lucy and going through classes in the learning hub I have gotten much better at it! It did take a little bit to get used to. But overall I have been enjoying learning to use it and learning to draw!
Had difficulty with getting it in focus and how far away my object needs to be to trace it. It came out fairly crooked and edgy, and I had to refine it.

There's not really a set distance something needs to be to be in focus unless there are vision-related issues, like if you wear multifocal lenses. Generally, as noted on our website, if you wear bifocals or multifocal lenses, you might have some difficulty focusing with LUCY, but it's still possible to use—it just comes with a few limitations. Getting a pair of reading glasses with a single focal length (not multiple focal zones) will help a lot. Give us a call, and we can help you troubleshoot. You can reach us at Contact@DrawLUCY.com

I’ve been an artist for many years and I was happy to have the Lucy tool to speed up my outline work! What a timesaver!
I am a terrible free hand drawer. the Lucy helps with tracing patterns on my canvas for oil painting. Here is a photo of my set up. I have the Lucy flex and the lighting is so critical to being able to see the pattern and the canvas in a balanced way. I will try different light set ups to get a better feel. Very pleased with the product and the training videos were very helpful.

I'm so glad you're enjoying your LUCY Flex. Make sure you're using those filters I see sitting on the table—when you use them, you'll have a much easier time with the lighting.
This watercolor of a friend's dog was easier with Lucy-though getting to know the flex has been a bit of a task. Guess it is worth it!
It has a learning curve. My first project was me, my daughter and grandson. Had fun by am still working on lining things up but more importantly, lighting is critical.
I’ve been wanting a Camera Lucida for a long time and have some great results my first time using it. The instructional videos on line are great and were really helpful during the initial setup. The filters were not something I’d expected and help in so many situations inside and outside. Great product, great results, easy to use.
As I recover from a major spinal surgery (3 rebuilt vertebrae, 3 repaired discs, & sticking the spinal chord back in place) plus retraining my dominant eye after taking a knife through the eye socket I've had some challenges to say the least. I got the Lucy and it has been a major part of overcoming the issues and getting skill back. I'm still a long way from my old level of skill but with Lucy's help I haven't felt completely hopeless.
I honestly appreciate the value of the Lucy Camera Lucida.
I’m rating myself, not the Lucy flex. I’m getting used to it but have had difficulties due to reading glasses interfering. Just today, a clearer ghost hand showed for me. Reading glasses need to be off! Also getting used to moving the Lucy around, adjusting lighting, keeping hand steady etc. I have the photo option and am experiencing the same things. I’m encouraged.
First try, used Lucy for plaques, trophy's for co-workers! Drew them on oak boards, then used burner to imprint into the wood! Looks rustic but that's the look I was after. Love my Lucy!
I just LOVE my Lucy!!! I've always enjoyed drawing, sketching, and painting but certain shapes (like faces) have always been difficult for me. With the LUCY my drawing has improved immediately and it helps create a new way to 'look' at what I'm trying to draw. So great!
As you can see by my drawing of the person, I moved the Lucy and then I couldn't really see my other lines and so it ended up a double image. I think that the pomegranate and the tangerine turned out okay. Obviously, I do need a lot of practice.

It seems that you had the image too bright. This can happen when you're using a filter when you don't need one or are using too dark of a filter. This makes the image so bright that you can't see your pencil marks. When using the filters, make sure you have a balance where you can see both your image and your pencil marks at the same time; then you will be able to draw the image correctly. I love it. Lucy Art really helps me so much it’s more enjoyable to paint and draw.
I gave my daughter a Lucy drawing tool and she loves it. Her boyfriend enjoys using it as well. It has brought art back into the family in a fun and unique way. Thanks!
I bought the Lucy to help learn capturing perspective in drawings and paintings. It took very little time and effort to get it set up. The videos offered a lot of tips on how to best use it. I found that having plenty of light on the subject and the drawing paper was very helpful. I believe the Lucy will serve as a great tool to improve my skills. I did a couple of simple test drawings to start with, then immediately jumped to something more complex (a dinosaur). Looking forward to honing my skills!
Starting using it the same day I received it and it did not disappoint. I found if I set up my ipad on a stand I can control the size and brightness of the image. The sample I sent is just a quick job that took about 4 minutes and is just the beginning of the process. Thanks for making something that is inspiring and fun to do. LUCY rules
