It's a little more difficult to use than I thought it would be. I have made some adjustments to the process and I will get better.

Love it
I bought it for my 9 year old granddaughter. It’s pretty good quality but I expected the image to be larger. It seems kind of limited in the size of picture you can expect.
"I can't draw" says the voice in my head. I honestly bought The Lucy drawing tool 4 months ago and watched the box collect dust on my coffee table. Last week, I finally got the courage to open the box, assemble the tool, and go through the intro lessons. Guess what? I CAN draw. I am excited to get into the library of classes and learn more.
Very helpful is capturing the nuances of life for someone who's not so naturally gifted with rendering proportions.
Th Draw Lucy has improved the accuracy of my observational drawing. Before, I had finish with accuracy close enough. Now, the proportions are dead-on. I can see the difference. Great training for the eye.
It threw me off a little, but I figured it out.
I like the product. Sometimes it's hard to get fine detail but for outlining, it's works very well.
I don’t get a very clear image but just enough to get basic details down. Haven’t used a Lucy in many, many years. It was similar concept to this one. Old one had small glass interchangeable lenses you could look thru. Used in the 80’s! This drawing is my first attempt. I like it so far. Need to hit the blacks now but I’m afraid to ruin it! Trying to remember an old art teacher said, “never be afraid to create!” Easier said than done!
Lucy drawing tool helped me get the correct features to draw my wife. Color pencil drawing.

Steep learning curve but worth the effort. Plan on using lots of paper to get it right
The Lucy drawing tool makes it far easier to draw my reference image and speeds up the process for me to begin the challenge of actually beginning the painting. I've used several methods in the past and would always be overwhelmed with the time needed prior to actually begin the process of putting paint down. Now I look forward to the whole process.

Some good information for beginners, I'm still working through it to find new information (granted I'm a BFA in art so there is not much I don't already know) the Lucy tool is all new to me though.
First attempts potted spider plant and a cat tree. My boyfriend has no drawing talent and he did amazing. I will use it for my own art projects but what better way to test it than on someone without the skill.
I got this for myself so I can do larger work easier, not sure how that will go down yet. But my boyfriend is the worst visual artist I know and this is his first attempt. He said it was the best work he has ever drawn in his life (he's 45). He was so proud he even signed it. It's a portion of a cat tree so it's a little abstract, but it is pretty accurate.

I was a bit apprehensive at purchasing the Lucy. But truly glad I did. It was a game changer for my sketching on canvas prior to painting. Glad I purchased and highly recommend 👌 👍
I am a watercolor artist. Great tool for initial drawing. Takes me much longer to draw subject freehand and works much better than the opaque projector I was previously using.
I haven't drawn in twenty years, but the Draw Lucy making a camera lucida accessible on an adjustable arm has helped me get my confidence back as an artist. I told myself I'd make a lot more progress in the online lessons than I have, but I'm still proud of myself for getting started. I joke that tracing photographs is kind of like making my own coloring books, but it's been a game changer to help me get right to my favorite part of making art: playing with colors. I've left my Draw Lucy clamped permanently to my desk to lower the threshold of executive function needed to go from "I feel like making some art" to "hey look, I made some art!" and it's worked wonders for my mental health. Pairs perfectly with a good audiobook. I have been recommending this left and right! (Also, the photo I'm sharing is artwork I made from a Nat Geo photography book I got at the library, and credit for the original cardinal photo goes to Tim Flach.)

I have always done freehand, but using lucy helps me get the portions right and it really helps me. I save a lot of time.
I gave it to my granddaughter and she is enjoying learning how to use it.
The Lucy Flex is a bigtime saver. I can concentrate on watercolor painting instead of all the time I was spending on drawing and erasing the preliminary sketch.
Need stronger light on an overcast day. I’m happy with the Lucy. Just need more free time.

I was intrigued by the idea of a camera lucida years ago, and I was excited when I saw the Lucy ad come up. My very first attempt to use it was to capture a metal sculpture of a rockfish a friend had made. I was pleased with how easy Lucy was to use!
After first use, I'm very excited to see what comes next!
The Lucy drawing tool is amazing. It allows me to take photos of things I want to draw and drive them perfectly. I’m using the Lucy mini and photo enlarger kit. I’ve been using it to pull photos from the book. I have about Disney, and draw them in my sketchbook
I absolutely love this! It's made my olein air and stick drawing much easier. It's easy to use and helps when you want to quickly draw a scene.
For me, it was hard to get accustomed to using it, but it is a useful tool. The drying kit was very nice. Thank you.
Drawing is not a strong point for me. Especially perspective and dimension. But with working work the lucy and going through classes in the learning hub I have gotten much better at it! It did take a little bit to get used to. But overall I have been enjoying learning to use it and learning to draw!
I have only done one drawing but it is much easier than drawing freehand.

Had difficulty with getting it in focus and how far away my object needs to be to trace it. It came out fairly crooked and edgy, and I had to refine it.
Store owner replied: There's not really a set distance something needs to be to be in focus unless there are vision-related issues, like if you wear multifocal lenses. Generally, as noted on our website, if you wear bifocals or multifocal lenses, you might have some difficulty focusing with LUCY, but it's still possible to use—it just comes with a few limitations. Getting a pair of reading glasses with a single focal length (not multiple focal zones) will help a lot. Give us a call, and we can help you troubleshoot.
