The Lucy has a bit of a learning curve. I am still struggling with reflections and getting the light situated, have had good results. My sketching skills are a bit rusty, but the Lucy is proving helpful in creating a rough sketch.

I used the photo enlarger to quickly sketch this portrait of a lady playing the piano. Took me about 5 minutes to get the outline. Really helpful tool! It takes a bit of practice to get used to it. But it does work!

I'm having a hard time getting the right combination of filters and light to be able to actually see clearly what's on the 4x6 reference photo and still be able to see the tip of my pencil. I'm going to keep working at it till I figure it out.

Sorry but overall for me I'd have to say so so. The whole setup is quite pricey and doesn’t really work for me. I use a projector that works a lot better for my talents. Can’t get very big traces. Kinda good for still lifes. I have the pro version.

It's difficult to tighten everything together because it appears to not be threaded correctly. The section that should hold the photo just swings around since it's not possible to tighten. The bag seems unnecessarily large since the Lucy came with a bag.

I work from reference photos because I just don't have the free time to paint plein air. This was a commission to paint a house portrait from a photo supplied to me. I probably could have cobbled together something to hold the photo, but the holder makes it alot easier. The photo holder is definitely a must. I am still getting used to the LUCY MINI but I am getting more proficient. In hindsight I wish I would have purchased the Lucy Flex. I think It would be more versitile.

The flexable shaft that mounts the head is not stiff enough. I have to have an additional support when I put the lecu head down low with the shaft having a big bend in it.

So I’ve loved to draw since I was a kid and had been taught the grid method as well as the use of dividers for proper proportions and scale. The Lucy is sooo much faster. It makes the initial layout and composition easier so that I can get down to the business of making sketches that I’m really proud of. For the beginner or an old guy like me, I love Lucy.

It's possibly user error, but we are having a hard time finding a balance for the light. Either we can't see the hand and pencil, or we can't see the item we want to draw. It's a really cool concept, but my 7 year old doesn't have the patience of an adult to hone his use of this. We'll try again in a few months!

I am disappointed. It is absolutely essential to have a bright light on your subject. If it isn't well lit, it's next to impossible to use the device. But the light has to be positioned almost in front of the viewer to get all aspects of the image lit. That's cumbersome. For the price, it should have included a light ON the device. The viewer is awkward. Would have been better to have something like a viewmaster to look through. and if you don't complete the entire drawing at one time, it is next to impossible to line everything up again if you stop and return to it. I was expecting much better.

I probably need to use it more...... but so far I find that the image I get on the drawing pad is too small, I am taking it off of my laptop screen (macbook pro 16"). and I have a hard time figuring out where the pencil is.... it seems like a great idea...... but not just quite right..... but I have only used it a couple of times.... so. ????? I would like the image to be bigger and to see where my pencil is.

I wear glasses which seemed to be part of the issue and could not adjust the drawing tool such that I could see where my hand was positioned and the line I drew with my pencil, only the object I wanted to draw. It did not work for me so I returned it within the 30-day window and am waiting for my refund.
As for the Lucy drawing tool instructions, the point of access I was directed to had nothing in order, even some YouTube videos that were unrelated. I was able to find the instructions for drawing with the tool after a bit of effort.
I did not see the watercolor class which was to have come in a separate email and never accessed that/returned it as well :(

Finally figured out how to use the photo enlarger to my advantage! I print out a small version of the reference photo to put on the enlarger, then sketch it out. Then I use a larger version of the reference photo for colors, shading, etc. Now I've got 8 panels ready and waiting for paint!

Love the new Lucy photo copier. This pic doesn't do the painting justice. I printed a 4x6 pic and copied it to a 12x16 canvas. It took a whole afternoon and part of the next morning to get the likeness the way I wanted. I'm very happy with the result. I no longer need large format prints, tracing paper, carbon paper, and a stylist to transfer photos to canvas. Lucy makes it simple.

This is great for allowing you to put a picture on you're lucy and view it with a lens and works amazingly. The bag is also great and allows for easy travel. I have to say this is the best investment I ever placed. Wow, this really made a difference. I save a lot of time drawing and my drawings are a lot better. The proportions are accurate. The photo inlarger is great for recreting old family photos. Any photo bigger than a 5 by 7 inches this item doesn't really work great for but those classic candid family photos from years ago work great. The bag is nice and supplies many pockets for the different accessories. Over all it is a good add on piece.
